Schools To Tools: skilled trades made visible, interactive and mobile
A virtual job-site tour, a welding simulation and hands-on carpentry gave high-school students different ways to explore skilled trades. CSG worked with the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters to take Schools To Tools on the road, connecting digital exploration with practical skill.
CSG worked with a cross-functional MRCC team to create the “Schools To Tools” mobile experience, designed to introduce high school students to careers as carpenters and millwrights. CSG provided design, engineering, fabrication and buildout, technology integration, and pilot testing.
Explore the Work. Practice the Skills.
Inside the trailer, students could take a union trivia challenge, tour a virtual job site with a selfie photo opportunity and try a virtual welding experience. HoloLens and tablet applications introduced different trades and the range of work each one performs.
Hands-On Experience Beyond the Trailer
Outside the mobile environment, students put their interest into practice through hands-on carpentry activities. Together, the physical and digital experiences made skilled-trades careers easier to understand, explore, and consider.

Let people try the possibilities.
We can help translate a career, skill or training opportunity into something people can explore firsthand, then plan how to bring that experience to them.
